Tomcat

Does installing Tomcat on my laptop make me a bad person? Probably not. Dirty maybe, but certainly not bad.

Some of you know how I feel about Java, and I really don’t want to get into it right now, but suffice it to say that we don’t see eye to eye. But when required to do something for either class or work, I like to think that I am a mature enough person to place my personal and professional feelings aside and get things done. And I don’t do them half-assed either… I commit. :)

But what I really wanted to say is that if you are interested in getting Tomcat up and running on an OS X system, there is a nice walkthrough for installing Tomcat and MySQL on Mac OS X at benslade.com.

Of course, after you install it, if you want to use it, well that’s where Java starts getting involved and then you are on your own. My only solace is in the fact that Tomcat is part of the Apache project, which I have much admiration for.
