Back from Germany

Bridges Hall, University of Reading

In case anyone hasn’t heard, there is a bit of a lock down going on with the British Airports today. All short haul flights into Heathrow are cancelled and the delays everywhere are incredible. I am so thankful that I was able to get in to Stansted last night, that I’m willing to overlook the fact that I was delayed by two hours in Frankfurt. I know that Marie and her family would have been happy to accommodate me for another day or so if my flight had been cancelled, which would have been fine except for the fact that my family is due to arrive early Saturday morning. I am really hoping that things will have settled down by then and the cancellations will be kept to a minimum and the delays not too severe.

On a lighter note, I had a fabulous time in Germany. It was the first time I made a purely holiday solo trip and it was great. Marie and her folks were extremely generous and kind. I have lots of photos as usual and I will get them online once I write up a few of the highlights. Unfortunately, tonight is my last night in Bridges (at least for a while), so I have to pull my stuff together to leave tomorrow. I’m hoping to get a chance to make some notes about the trip (fortunately I already have some on paper) and do all the other things I need to today. I really just wanted to let everyone who knew I was traveling these days know that I’m not stuck in an airport somewhere. Not yet anyway. :)
